Recorded in the remote north-west region of Broome, Western Australia, this album was put together during the hot and humid tropical wet season of December-February. In a small studio situated beneath tall mango trees, all the music on this album is composed in the moment by Tim Parry. The name Spontaneous Inventions comes from a Bobby McFerrin performance of the same name, in which the musician creates music spontaneously - a true exercise in creativity, courage and flow.

Using a simple loop pedal, Tim is able to create the foundation of the track, then build upon this repeating guitar part with additional textures, rhythms, harmony and melody.

In 40C heat, surrounded by the smell of mango trees and ocean breeze, with thick humid air, this album was recorded in the quiet of the wet season, when tourists and even local residents abandon this little town, 2000km from any city. This album carries with it a peaceful and relaxed mood, capturing all the sensory stimuli of this isolated, beautiful little place at the end of the earth.
